newwwww try

this is just a test so now I am making progress.  I can do this through flock.  Not all the formatting things seem to work…but it doesn’t seem to make a difference with wordpress editor either…only thing that seems to work is the center,l,r justify.  Well nothin better to do than  keep trying stuff

canned triple boot

Well I s*^&% canned the triple boot last week. Was kinda scary wondering if anything would boot. Started with a local purge on kubuntu trying to clear some space…and for a change followed instructions and selected to keep the two letter ‘en’ as opposed to the ‘en_US’(when I used it on ubuntu feisty I used the ‘en_US’ and it worked fine). Evidently it trashed my apt sources and I couldn’t upgrade to gutsy or install anything for that matter and I was going to get rid of the debian anyway due to lack of drive space. Had to use my super grub disk to fix windows mbr and remove grub …got windoze to boot on its own without debian/grub help. Burned a kubuntu gutsy cd…but when I installed it(tried at least) it was corrupt…so I installed edgy then did two allnight upgrades to feisty then gutsy. Seems that in kubuntu or ubuntu the only browser I can get flash and audio/video to work with is seamonkey , flash seems to crash firefox…then this last time seems like it was the theme. But I am trying flock right now…I am sorta afraid to flash it…and haven’t tried movieplayer with it yet.

triple boot

Well I got triple boot windoze, kubuntu, and debian worked out a while back.  Need to edit my grub menu to make winny the default for the ease of operation for the girls.

maybe I like gnome

I got really used to KDE using Mandriva and used it with Fedora even though

the  fedora default is gnome.  Then I installed Ubuntu Breezy and added

most all the KDE packages I could find (not all of which worked on Gnome).

So then I installed Kubuntu…then last month updated to Kubuntu Edgy.

Then a couple weeks ago I decided to install Ubuntu Edgy and give

Gnome a chance.  I still struggle with the panel and knowing what

I have going on each desktop…maybe I have more configuring to

do with the panel.  And I do miss being able to have different

wallpaper on each desktop(workspace).  I would like to be able to

switch between KDE & Gnome just like switching sessions.

And I really don’t want to partition and dual boot from my disk,

and my other drive has to have WinXP.  Lisa doesn’t do Linux,  and

doesn’t have her laptop set up to print and I can’t get Terragen

and WorldWind to work on Linux.  But I know so much about wine

that if ’wine /path/’ doesn’t work then the app won’t work on

Linux,  I don’t know how to configure wine and make a pseudo

windows C:\ drive with all the proper dlls…etc…waaaayyy tooooooo

complicated.

my OS

another geek test…hope Amiga isn’t all that bad
You are Amiga OS. Ahead of your time. You keep a lot of balls in the air. If only your parents had given you more opportunities to suceed.
Which OS are You?

we’ll see if the link even works

Kubuntu Edgy

Perhaps it seems that I am about the only one on

the planet that prefers KDE  to Gnome.  Actually I recently

updated from Breezy to Edgy.  Seemed easier

than uninstalling PHP and reinstalling to

upgrade my PHP and MySQL. It does boot faster

but it doesn’t let you know what it is doing like

breezy did.  I like Linux for the entertainment

value, ease of changing themes, and different

window managers.  My current fav is Xfce4 and

I am trying to get a grip on AfterStep &

Enlightenment.  Setting up LAMP with modperl

and python was pretty slick…gotta like dpkg…

though I prefer synaptic to adept cuz it breaks

your packages into catagories.

It had to be ‘Hello World’

I don’t have a lot to say tonight. Gonna have to install this on jimzdesign.com but install locally first.  Have to figure out how to use remote MySQL before I can install on website.

I need to figure out an avatar soon and how to upload that.

But now I think its nappy time.
